Thomas’s journey began in 1987 at the young age of 18. At the time, he worked three jobs while searching for an opportunity to build a better future. From 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, he worked in a mailing house where advancement opportunities were limited. After finishing his day job, he headed to his second job with a cleaning company, often working until 10:00 or 11:00 at night. Soon after, he accepted a third position performing weekend cleaning work. Looking back, Thomas considers that weekend job the turning point that inspired him to pursue a career providing professional Janitorial Services.
With nothing more than a vacuum cleaner, a duster, and a few dollars to his name, Thomas made the bold decision to leave his morning job and dedicate himself to building his own cleaning business. His determination and willingness to work hard laid the foundation for what would eventually become one of the area’s trusted providers of Janitorial Services.
In the beginning, the business had only one customer, generating approximately $95 per month in revenue. To support himself while growing the company, Thomas accepted every odd job he could find. Believing that education was just as important as experience, he enrolled in Business College and negotiated his tuition by cleaning the school every evening. What started as a single account expanded to 11 clients, producing approximately $4,000 in monthly revenue before Thomas sold the company in 1989. In 1996, Thomas was ready to return to the industry he loved. With greater maturity, renewed confidence, and a stronger understanding of business operations, he repurchased Southern Coast Janitorial.
